Students seek extension in forms submission date

PESHAWAR: The students of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education have expressed serious concern over closure of the receipt of forms for admission to intermediate classes in the elite educational institutions, particularly the Islamia College Peshawar before announcement of their result.

A group of students told The News that several top educational institutions of the province were closing receipt of the admission forms in the last week of this month. The Islamia College Peshawar, which has now been upgraded to university level, has set June 30 as last date for submission of admission forms, while the Secondary School Certificate examination result of the FBISE is expected in the first week of next month.

The students were of the opinion that this would deprive scores of them of admission to the top educational institutions of the province. They said they also called on the vice-chancellor, registrar and adviser of the newly upgraded university and apprised them of their concern, but to no avail. “We demanded of the top officials of the college to extend the date till our result at least, but no concrete assurance was given to us,” the students said.

The students said if the date was extended for a week or so, the schedule of the college would not be affected and arrangement could also be made for accommodating the students of the federal government institutions even after the closure of receipt of admission form.

The students demanded of the provincial government high-ups and administration of the college to look into their case and provide them opportunity to get admission to the institutions of their choice.
