Islamabad:Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has arranged a thought-provoking lecture of visiting US scholar Imam Yahya Hendi here.
During his lecture, Imam Yahya emphasized that Muslims should think out-of-box and should look inward rather than outward for resolving their issues. He said “today Muslims are facing several problems and no one will come for their rescue”. They will have to strive for themselves to change the status quo, he added.
Imam Yahya is a prominent US scholar whose specialty is comparative studies of religions. He studied Islam, Christianity and Judaism in detail and holds Phd in this discipline. He delivers lectures at Churches, Synagogues and sermons in Islamic Centres in the US. His work on interfaith harmony is highly commended and appreciated all over US and Muslim countries.
Declaring Pakistan as his second country, Imam Hendi said that future of Pakistan does mean a lot not only to this region but also to the entire world.
He said “dogmas must not make us enemies of each other, religions and civilizations have more commonalities with each other rather than difference, therefore, different civilizations should learn from one another’s experiences”.
Imam Hindi said that justice should be administered to all irrespective of colour, creed and gender. No one should be left out of political experience and process.
The lecture was attended by Dr. Mohsin Muzaffar Naqvi, Justice Syed Afzal Haider, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani, Maulan Fazal-e-Ali, Dr. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Council Secretary Riaz-ur-Rehman, members of the Research Wing of the Council, students of International Islamic University, and representatives from US embassy.
